Hafiz benefits
The report “Saudis who refuse to work for Hafiz benefits may be penalized” (Jan. 29) says that the Ministry of Labor is studying a proposal to penalize beneficiaries of the Hafiz unemployment program who turn down jobs that they are offered.
The purpose of the program is to provide unemployment compensation to Saudi workers who cannot find jobs. There is no need for a study to be conducted, if a suitable job is offered to someone receiving the compensation and if that person refuses the job without a good reason, then he or she should no longer be eligible for a monthly Hafiz payment.
