JEDDAH — A Personal Status Court has been surrounded by over flooding sewage water for months and visitors of the court have complained about the inconvenience. Salim Al-Ahmadi said the Personal Status Court in Al-Wurood District in Jeddah is surrounded by sewage water making it difficult and unsanitary for visitors to be near the building. "This has been going on for more than three months. We haven't seen any solutions to the problem. Sewage water is disturbing traffic flow near the main entrance of the building. Is it really difficult for the court to find a quick solution to the problem? Don't they have the authority to end this problem?," said Al-Ahmadi. Nasser Al-Ghamdi said the building now has a stench in its hallways and the sewage water is attracting insects. "The Personal Status Court has the authority to solve people's problems but it cannot solve its own problems. The National Water Company should intervene fast and find a solution to the problem," said Al-Ghamdi. A staff member at the court said the court has contacted the National Water Company several times with no response. "We receive over 2,000 visitors a day coming to sort out several cases including divorce, marriages, alimony and custody. The people are forced to wear medical masks just to endure the smell. The court became infested with viruses and diseases such as the dung fever," said the staff member. The staff member also said it is a health risk for the people working in the building to come to work. "The pertinent authorities must act fast and end the problem. The situation is unbearable. The court has also reached out to the municipality but the municipality referred the court back to the National Water Company," said the staff member.
