NAJRAN — The Governor of Sharourah governorate Ibrahim Bin Atif Al-Shihri performed funeral prayer Sunday, after Asr prayer, at the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Grand Mosque in Sharourah for the soul of the Saudi student Hussain Bin Saeed Bin Abdullah Alnahdi, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. Alnahdi, who was a student in the University of Wisconsin-Stout, was assaulted by an unknown assailant last week. Officers found Alnahdi unconscious and bleeding from his mouth and nose before he was hospitalized and died from his injuries. Alnahdi was initially taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Menomonie, and then airlifted to Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Following funeral prayer, the Governor of Sharourah offered condolences on behalf of Prince Juluwi Bin Abdulaziz Bin Musaed, Emir of Najran Province, to Alnahdi's father and family. He prayed that Allah Almighty may have mercy on his soul and make paradise his abode. He also prayed that Allah grant patience to his bereaved family and relatives. The deceased's father expressed thanks to the Emir of the region for the care and attention he has provided to the student's family since the confirmation of their son's death. The father prayed that Allah reward him for his deeds and protect him from all harm. Hussain Alnahdi, 24, was a junior majoring in business administration who enrolled in 2015 at UW-Stout, according to a statement from the university, whose campus is in Menomonie. Meanwhile, the FBI has joined the investigation into the death of Alnahdi. Police have not made any arrests, and have not been able to confirm if Alnahdi's death outside Toppers Pizza was a hate crime, Menomonie Police Chief Eric Atkinson was quoted as saying. "However, we will not dismiss the possibility until the (police department) has concluded the investigation," the police chief added. Two reward funds totaling $20,000 have been established for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Alnahdi's assailant. A memorial fund also has been set up by the university's foundation.
