The Bangladesh International School, Riyadh held its annual IGCSE award-distribution ceremony for its outstanding students in the school auditorium here on Sunday, Jan. 28. English section of the school had conducted the function. Dr. Zafar Ahmed Khan, secretary Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh was the chief guest of the occasion. The other participants included Shahidul Islam, Ambassador of Bangladesh,Dr. Qamarul Islam, chairman school governing board , Dr. Kazi Mohd.Masud vice-chairman and board members, Wahiduzzaman Sikder and Joynal Abedin. The speakers lauded the performance of the students and prayed for their success in future. Later Dr. Zafar distributed certificates and gold medals among the top performers of the IGCSE-2011 examination, which included: Faysal Masum, Omar Abdul Bagi, Samir Abdul Aziz, Ashif Mohammad, Mahmood Chowdhury, Miah Mohd.Riyadh, Rafa Tasfia Abedin, Sayma Tajul Islam, Samira Mahmud, Sumaiya Amin, Tasnin Jahan, Zarin Akter Chowdhury. Dr. Zafar, on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh, gifted 35 computers to equip the school's computer laboratory with latest systems. Dr. Abul Mal Abdul Muhit, Minister of Finance, had in his recent visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, promised to overhaul the school's infrastructure. Reacting to the Parents' plea to allot a quota for the students of the British-based curriculum in the government universities, the ambassador said the the matter lay in the hands of the decision-making authorities. The organizers thanked the staff, Dr Masoud in particular for his brilliant role making the function a success. Ms Shaila and Mrs. Shakira presented the function. __
