Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, held the Board of Trustees meeting at the foundation's headquarters in Riyadh, and appointed Princess Lamia AlSaud as Secretary General, and Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen as new member of the Board. The meeting was attended by members of the Board, including Prince Khaled Bin Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, First Deputy Chairman of the Board Princess Reem Bint Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, Second Deputy Chairperson of the Board Princess Lamia bint Majed AlSaud, newly appointed Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, the former Minister of Social Affairs Ms. Nada AlSugair, Executive Director of Finance and Administration of Prince Alwaleed's Private Office and the Treasurer of Alwaleed Philanthropies Dr. Sheikh Ali Al Nashwan, Religious Advisor to Prince Alwaleed. The discussion began around the foundation's projects during 2015 and their impact on society, helping people around the world regardless of gender, race or religion. The meeting addressed future strategies to maximize impact and establish the strategic positioning of the foundation on a global level, praising some of the foundation's main achievements in 2015 such as the Housing & Grants Program in Saudi Arabia, which consists of providing 10,000 housing units and 10,000 cars to the families most in need over the course of 10 years in all regions of the Kingdom. To improve overall living standards, a similar housing program was implemented in Egypt aiming to grant 10,000 housing units to Egyptian citizens. Also noting, the foundation's crucial involvement in eradicating Polio, in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in addition to continuing to support refugees and war victims as part of its commitment to be a leader in humanitarian work worldwide. The Board of Trustees commended the positive impact of the various projects in the areas of social development, disaster relief, women's empowerment and social and cultural initiatives. Ms. Amal Al Kathiri, Executive Manager, who leads the National Initiatives, highlighted the latest updates on local projects mentioning the policies and procedures pertaining its new strategy. As for the foundation's work globally, Ms. Nauf Al Rawaf, Executive Manager of the International Initiatives, presented ongoing projects, and the importance of aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals. Ms. Sara Balghonaim, Media and Communications Officer, explained the important role of media in today's fast-paced digital world in bringing the foundation's achievements to life through its awareness campaigns.
