Riyadh-London hackathon next month

RIYADH — Misk Charity Organization will organize Misk Hackathon 2016 from Nov. 25 to 27.
A source said the event is the first of its kind for computer and electronic application programming.
"Young and creative men and women working from Riyadh and London will participate in the event. Both cities are connected via satellite. The event will last for two days and Participants in the three-day event will have the objective of coming up with a technological invention to enhance medical services and health care at international level," said the source.
The source also said Misk Charity Organization is cooperating with We Are Xpert British Organization to organize the hackathon.
"The event will bring Saudi and British programmers together to create innovative and technological advancements in the medical services and health care sector. The hackathon will gather 400 young men and women aged between 18 and 32," said the source.
He also said the participants are all talented and creative enthusiasts of information technology and programming.
"Participants will look into finding technical solutions, designing, researching and analyzing possibilities for innovation in the health sector. The participants can form teams to work together on finding a technological solution to problems of medical services and the health sector within 48 hours," said the source.
The source added the submission will be evaluated by an evaluation committee consisting of experts from all over the world.
"The winning team will earn SR37,500 to turn their idea into an investment project. Misk Charity Organization invites all talented programmers to participate and register for the event by visiting the website www.miskhackathon.com," said the source.
The source also said the last day of registration is Nov. 18.
"The event serves a humanitarian and a developmental purpose. It encourages young talent to create global change and encourages skilled programmers to be entrepreneurial and start their own businesses," said the source.
