The Federation of Kerala Associations in Saudi Arabia (FOKASA) expresses its deep and heartfelt grief over the death of MOH Farook, the former Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and governor of Kerala. Farook, 74, died Thursday night at a private hospital in Chennai and was buried Friday with full state honors. “When he was Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia, we had the opportunity of meeting him and discussing several issues of common interest and importance to the Indian community in the Kingdom,” FOKASA said in a press statement. “Mr. Farook was kind enough to give us permission to meet, even without a formal appointment as and when required. He was so popular that he frequently attended community programs organized by Indian social organizations,” the statement added. FOKASA said that Ambassador Farook did not hesitate to present issues of Indian expatriates to Indian ministers when they visited the Embassy in Riyadh or Consulate General Office in Jeddah. He tried his level best to improve the consular and welfare services of the embassy and consulate for ordinary Indians, even in the midst of a staff shortage and financial constraints, it said.
