The Ministry of Labor and Social Development has signed a draft agreement to develop and govern the administrative and financial affairs of the non-governmental organizations. The signing took place at a ministry-affiliated center in Unaizah in Al-Qassim. The draft agreement aims to develop an assessment process for non-profits, train field officers and govern the NGOs in order to ensure transparency and accountability. It is expected that the ministry will implement regulations for NGOs and charitable foundations in the next few weeks. The ministry will launch training programs that target field officers in various regions and hold several meetings to increase awareness of those in charge of running the organizations. The ministry had announced earlier that it would soon implement a newly-formed classification system for NGOs to regulate the sector and was making the assessment data available to the public to take part in the monitoring the activities of charitable organizations. The new system would motivate the nonprofit organizations to apply the best practices as resources will be reallocated and redistributed in the voluntary sector based on competency and efficiency.
