The Saudi presence at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland is not marginal. The Saudi delegation, composed of an elite group of economic and financial experts, will present an overview of our nation which has distinguished itself from other countries around the world. The Kingdom's economy has grown while the economies of major developed nations have been affected by the global financial crisis. No one expected that these countries would succumb to financial difficulties and many believed that such nations were immune from such crises because their economies are strong. The five-day WEF is being held in Davos in the presence of 2,600 participants to discuss ways to formulate a draft law for a new world economic order. A long-term mechanism will be designed for this project. The forum will also discuss important topics, such as the ramifications of the major economic crises the world has experienced over the past 50 years. Such topics will also include the accumulation of debts and the poor performance of the economies of developed nations. Participants will suggest ways to solve these problems based on logical and scientific perspectives. This forum is being held after the 6th Global Competitiveness Forum concluded its activities in Riyadh where participants discussed several issues related to creating job opportunities and a good work environment. Participants suggested methods for creating such an environment which should help solve many problems hindering the development of the financial activities of small and medium-sized businesses. They also discussed future challenges facing the world economy and the importance of laying down solid foundations to achieve economic balance. Both forums discuss common issues related to finding solutions locally and internationally for economic crises. It remains to be seen whether these forums will make a valuable contribution to solving the financial crisis that has swept through most countries of the world. __
