Civil Affairs plans to launch a new service to issue national identity cards to citizens, men and women, through its electronic platform Absher. The new service enables guardians to verify identities of minors and women electronically and allows their children to follow up with the Civil Affairs offices for the issuance of national identity, without having the presence of a guardian. Spokesman of Civil Affairs Mohammed Al-Jasser explained that this comes after a number of parents were late in verifying the identities of their children, because they were outside the Kingdom or for other conditions. e-links With regard to the new services, Al-Jasser emphasized that the Civil Affairs was keen on providing a number of new electronic procedures that will save time for citizens, including continuous coordination with the Ministry of Health, to take advantage of e-linking processes to register deaths electronically. As a first stage it shall be implemented in Riyadh and then across other cities in the Kingdom. "This measure exempts the family of the deceased from filing death at the Civil Affairs offices as done previously," he said. Communication with sectors Al-Jasser said that Civil Affairs finally began to communicate with a number of government sectors to take advantage of electronic services. For example, "My data" enables citizens to delegate other sectors to access data without the need to review the conditions in less than 60 seconds via Absher. There are currently 23 service sectors that are benefiting from this new service. He pointed out that "My data" service saved more than 2 million papers trimming the previous time from 3 hours to 60 seconds, and the number of beneficiaries of nearly 1.3 million.
