Needing to jump-start its Spanish league title challenge, Atletico Madrid turned to Antoine Griezmann for its first win of the season Saturday. Griezmann scored twice after setting up Atletico's opener in the second half to lead a 4-0 victory at Celta Vigo. Atletico's win came after draws with recently promoted Leganes and Alaves in the first two rounds, leaving it trailing title rival Barcelona and Real Madrid. France forward Griezmann sparked a stalled Atletico that was heading toward another stumble after an ineffective first half. His cross set up Jorge "Koke" Resurreccion for his opener in the 52nd minute. Griezmann followed that with headed goals in the 73rd and 81st before substitute Angel Correa scored late. Lewandowski lifts Bayern Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski made amends for several glaring misses when he scored a late goal and set up another as the German champion ground out a 2-0 win at battling Schalke 04 Friday. The Poland striker, who netted a hat trick in a 6-0 home demolition of Werder Bremen on the Bundesliga's opening weekend, spurned several chances in either half before he found the back of the net with a trademark clinical finish in the 81st minute. He then ripped through the home team's defense in stoppage time before squaring a perfect pass for substitute Joshua Kimmich, who sealed the win with an angled shot. A well-organized Schalke frustrated the visitors for long spells and missed its best chance early in the second half when Dutch striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar rattled the crossbar with a screaming shot from 30 meters. Despite having several key players injured, Bayern's new coach Carlo Ancelotti was still spoilt for choice from a deep squad and handed Renato Sanches his debut following the midfielder's 35-million euro ($39.8 million) close-season move from Benfica. Yet the 19-year-old, who helped Portugal win Euro 2016, struggled in his maiden appearance for Bayern as did his teammates against a packed Schalke midfield. St Etienne stuns PSG French champion Paris St Germain continued its patchy start to the season after conceding a stoppage-time equalizer in a 1-1 home draw with St Etienne Friday. The result left PSG, which is chasing a fifth successive league title, on seven points from four games after a 3-1 setback at Monaco in its last outing. With striker Edinson Cavani left on the bench until the 68th minute after scoring twice in Uruguay's 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Paraguay Wednesday, PSG looked bereft of pace and ideas. It took the lead in the 67th minute when Lucas Moura converted a penalty after Blaise Matuidi went down under an off-the-ball challenge. Just when it seemed the home side would hang on for a labored win, it was shocked as the adventurous visitors, who had missed two good chances in the first half, grabbed a deserved equalizer. Kevin Malcuit delivered an inviting cross from the right and Slovenia striker Robert Beric chested it down before beating Kevin Trapp with a scrambled volley which bounced over the keeper. — Reuters
