Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Every community is blessed with talented people in all walks of life, and so to is Pakistan, which has given the world a load of talents, especially in calligraphy. Such a talented individual, who excels in calligraphy, paintings and writing who captured the attention of the people from Pakistani community here at a function organized by Pakistan Journalist Forum (PJF) on the occasion of 70th Independence Day of Pakistan recently. Mohammed Azam Khan, an artist, painter, calligraphist and a computer graphic designer, is using to the full his God-gifted talent and is bringing laurels to himself and his country with his unique style of works. Khan, a Jeddah resident since 1990, works in Saudi Arabian Airlines. He was educated in Karachi and used to do his unique style of calligraphy, paintings and writings in his spare time. Speaking to Saudi Gazette, Khan said, "I would first like to express my gratitude to Shahid Naeem, president, Amir Mohammed Khan, chairman, and all members of the PJF for providing me with such an opportunity to present my calligraphic work in public." He also thanked eminent Pakistani singer Bassam, who introduced him to the PJF fraternity. He demonstrated his art and drawings of the images of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan, Quaid Ka Mazar (mausoleum), the Minara-e-Pakistan and Yum-e-Azadi Aug. 14 by the Urdu alphabetical words. He said Pakistan has produced several calligraphers of eminence including Khattat Al-Haram Annabvi Assharif, Ustad Shafiq Uzzaman, who is the chief calligrapher of the Prophet's Mosque, for the last 20 years. Azam's style of calligraphy was liked by the audience and all appreciated his high level of craftsmanship.
