The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) organized recently a function to present its Pravasi Mitra Award to Dr. K.T. Mohammed Rabeeh Rabeeullah, chairman and managing director of Shifa Al-Jazeera Medical Group. Sheikha Noora Bint Khalifa Al-Khalifa presented the award to Rabeeullah at a colorful ceremony held at Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam Diamond Jubilee Hall in Segaya in the presence of several dignitaries. Rabeeullah was chosen for the prestigious award for his outstanding contributions in the healthcare sector as well as in humanitarian and charity work. Renowned orator, politician and former member of Indian parliament Abdu Samad Samadani was the chief guest while Bahrain Parliament member Adel Al-Assomi and Kairali Channel Middle East Director E.M. Ashraf were the guests of honor. Samadani presented a citation to Rabeeullah. BKS President P.V. Radhakrishna Pillai announced the Samajam's decision to grant life membership to Rabeeullah. "The new hall of Samajam, which will be inaugurated soon, would be known as Dr. K.T. Rabeeullah Hall," he said. The award ceremony featured a wide variety of dance programs. Samajam General Secretary N.K. Veeramany, and executive members were among those who attended the function. Rabeeullah is one of the most successful Indian businessmen and entrepreneurs in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. He heads Shifa Al-Jazeera Medical Group, a leading healthcare conglomerate in GCC, which runs over 20 medical centers, a hospital and a chain of pharmacies. He had won earlier several prestigious awards and laurels for his immense contributions in the healthcare sector and humanitarian work, and these included Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, the highest honor accorded to overseas Indians for their pioneering role in enhancing India's image globally.
