EXPATRIATE workers remaining absent from work face a fine of SR10,000 and deportation. They will also be banned from entering the Kingdom, Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday. The Passports Department (Jawazat) has stressed that all citizens and expatriates should comply with the regulations and directives by reporting workers violating the residency (iqama) and labor regulations "including workers remaining absent, especially domestic workers". They should not shelter, transport or employ violators. Violations will invite a fine of SR100,000, six months imprisonment and a ban on recruiting workers for five years. Furthermore, the violating expatriate worker will be deported. The Passports Department added that an employer can report the absentee expatriate worker by registering "Huroob" through the Ministry of Interior's Absher website or by dialing 989.
