Former Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, government of Andhra Pradesh, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, stressed the necessity to attract small investors from Indian residents in the Gulf. Concerned with the fact that the Indian government mainly tries to attract huge investments from NRIs in Western countries, Shabbir suggested evolving schemes to attract group investments from low-salaried Indian workers in the Gulf. Shabbir was talking to the media after releasing the book “Expat Ride” authored by Riyadh-based journalist Mohammed Saifuddin and published by www.yahind.com. “Expat Ride” covers diverse issues and problems being faced by Indian expatriates in Gulf countries. Shabbir said the problems of Indian workers in Gulf countries are different from NRIs living in other countries. They should be dealt with separately. He highlighted several steps taken by the government of Andhra Pradesh when he was the Minister of NRI affairs. He appreciated the team of Yahind.com for publishing a book on the important subject. The event was attended by Nadeem Tareen, Chairman Delhi Public School Riyadh, Viren Joshi (Australian Embassy Riyadh) and Mir Himayat Ali (Managing Director Levtech Consulting, Riyadh). Prominent literary figures and journalists from Hyderabad Dr. Abid Moiz, Syed Fazil Hussain Parvez, and Abdul Rasheed Junaid also attended the book release function. “Expat Ride” is the maiden publication by Yahind.com, the popular website of the Gulf NRIs. According to its CEO Syed Zia Ur Rahman, this is a small beginning and his team is looking forward to climb many new heights in the future. “The book represents the maiden attempt on the author's part to address various concerns among Gulf returnees as well as expatriates. His long stay in the Kingdom, journalistic experience back home, keen observation, and ability to read between the lines, combine to make “Expat Ride” a roller coaster ride” Zia said. The “Expat Ride” author Mohammed Saifuddin is an experienced bilingual journalist. He worked for India's largest circulated Munsif Urdu daily, Hyderabad and Awam Urdu daily. After moving to Saudi Arabia, he contributed many articles to English and Urdu newspapers. Saifuddin has been associated with Yahind.com since its early days and has contributed many articles.
