DAMMAM — The Supreme Judicial Council had announced it would hold judges responsible for any delayed court hearings. A source said the Supreme Judicial Council had announced that court hearings are not to be postponed if a judge was on vacation, on training, or was sent out on a mission. "The Supreme Judicial Council made it clear that committing to the dates and timings of court hearings is the responsibility of the judge and the court president. If the judge of the case was not able to meet the date of the hearing, an acting judge must step in," the source said. The source also said it was the responsibility of the court president to follow up with the scheduled hearings to ensure that they are conducted on time. "If the president of the court was not able to perform this responsibility at any given time, an acting president is expected to step in," they said. "Court hearings are extremely important and must be held on time. Failing to commit to the dates and times of court hearings is considered a violation of the judge's judicial duty and the court president's administrative responsibilities."
