JAZAN — The National Committee for Caring the Families of Prisoners (Tarahum) recently offered 20 families workshops on hand weaving carpets. The families belonged to both current and released prisoners. Head of the Women's Section of Tarahum Aisha Al-Zakri said the workshop was four months long in duration and it prepared the families of current and previous prisoners to join the workforce and produce carpets. "The committee has cooperated with Al-Bir Charity Organization in Uhud Al-Masariha to offer them a place to hold the workshops. The workshops offer families of inmates a skill to utilize as they enter the workforce and begin to support themselves," said Al-Zakri. She also said having such a skill will enable the families from working and providing for themselves financially. "The workshop was given by the trainer Suhailah Al-Khazali, who came all the way from the United Arab Emirates. The workshop was comprehensive as it included every step of hand-stitching carpets and carpet manufacturing," said Al-Zakri. She said the trainer was received by the head of the committee Ali Zalah and she went on a tour of the city before commencing her workshop for wives and daughters of prisoners.
