Ghazal (Urdu poetry) singing was seen at its best during an eventful evening organized by the youth wing of HADAF (Human Abilities Development and Advancement Foundation) here on Friday. Ghazal is a form of Urdu poetry and its singing in the sub-continent is based on Indian classic music. Ghazal, generally is a lyrical poem with a fixed number of verses and a repeated rhyme, typically on the theme of love, and normally set to music. The star attraction of the evening was Dr. Abdulghani, who is a doctor by profession and works in Al-Hasa. Ghazal singing is his passion. He mesmerized the audience with one rendition after another. His melodious voice and decades of practice on the back of his passion for singing made the ghazal lovers ecstatic and they thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Dr. Abdulghani was very close to the Ghazal legend, Pandit Vithal Rao and perfected the art of ghazal signing under his guidance. One of the highlights of the event was selection of ghazals by Dr. Abdulghani, which were well appreciated by the connoisseurs of Urdu poetry. The beautiful symphony that emerged from the dexterous composition of Dr. Abdulghani enlivened the poetry of renowned poets like Shamim Jaipuri, Khuaar Barabankwi, Dr. Bashir Badr, Safi Aurangabadi, Amjad Hyderabadi, Narender Rai, Zaka Siddiqui, Shahnaz Akhter Nigar, Mozamjah Shajee', Shaaz Tamkanat etc. Well-known tabla (percussion instrument) player Riyazuddin Ahmed Khan displayed his deftness and nimble talent, which turned the renditions memorable. One of the students of Dr. Abdulghani, Yousuf Khan rendered two ghazals that was well appreciated by the audience. The leader of HADAF youth wing, Ehsan Ahmed, not only anchored the event with his usual pun and humor, but, also won the hearts of the audience with the renditions with aplomb of two ghazals —including the ghazal of Shahnaz Akhter Nigaar. At the start of the event, the president of HADAF, Jawed Masoud, honored Dr. Abdulghani and Riyazuddin Ahmed Khan with plaques of appreciation and the traditional shawls. Nayeem Javed, the founding president of HADAF, thanked the audience and emphasized that one of the missions of HADAF is to explore the community for hidden talent and also encourage them. The vice presidents of HADAF, Mohammed Asgharuddin Ahmed and Safi Hyder Jannaty welcomed the guests and ensured smooth functioning of the event. Dilshad Ali, HADAF's Webmaster and youth leader handled the registration and guided other members of the Youth Wing.
