Four persons accused of wrongdoing related to the Jeddah floods will know their fate Sunday. The Administrative Court at the Bureau of Grievances will issue its verdicts against the four individuals unless the accused or the Prosecutor General submits new evidence. Informed sources told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the defense and the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution have presented their arguments. One of the accused is a senior official of the Jeddah Mayoralty who has been suspended. The others are of different nationalities, sources added. The court had earlier decided to adjourn the case to look into the documentary evidence submitted and the defense statements, sources said. The senior official of the Jeddah Mayoralty is accused of taking a kickback of SR5 million for falsifying official documents and manipulating rain and flood projects at Umm Al-Khair District, in addition to abuse of power charges. He is also accused of sending the projects, which his department supervised, to an engineering firm owned by a relative. The second individual, an Arab investor, is accused of paying a bribe of SR150,000 to the senior official so that the latter would grant him a license to pump ground water. The third suspect, an engineer in a contracting company, is accused of giving the senior official a kickback of SR60,000 so that the latter would award a groundwater pumping project to his company. The fourth accused is charged with giving the senior official a bribe of SR180,000 so that the latter would not halt the company's work while awaiting concrete test results, and not to delay payments to the company. __
