Personnel from 34 security and service sectors are to receive expert training in crisis and disaster management. The courses will be provided by Makkah governorate's Crisis and Disaster Management Center in cooperation with crisis experts from Holland. The courses come in response to Prince Khaled Al-Faisal's directive that emergency training be provided to public personnel. The Director General of the Project for Drainage of Rain and Floodwater, Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al-Saleem, said: “The aim is to train personnel and ensure operation mechanisms conform with international standards for crisis management and to keep pace with international best practice.” Al-Saleem revealed that a number of trainees recently completed a five-week program during which they were trained in crisis management for public safety and natural disasters. “The instructors focused on the Dutch model due to that country's cumulative experience in disaster management gained throughout the years,” he said. The trainees will also study the cause of disasters and crisis, learn how to reduce their effect and investigate several other relevant topics. __
