Recent cooperation at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce with Qaderoon Network led to paving the way for persons with disabilities through hosting an awareness meeting last Monday titled "Your Job: Your Rights, Your Responsibilities". It was held at the Saleh Alturki Hall at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) for business owners and persons with disabilities. Specialists casted the lights on work policies that support persons with disabilities through the attendance of a number of graduates, job seekers, employees, and guardians of persons with disabilities. The Secretary General of JCCI Adnan Husein Mandoura said the combined efforts to meet the needs of persons with disabilities and ensuring their active role in the community through partnerships, cooperation, and educational events is essential. These individuals are capable of being an important part regardless of who they are and that is why the country strives to provide a proper and supportive environment for them. The support of JCCI ensures opportunities for persons with disabilities, without discrimination against them, at the hiring process. Executive Manager of Qaderoon Network Khalid Mohammad Sindi said the Network and other stakeholders are on a continuous quest to activate the role of persons with disabilities at work, in addition to raising awareness about the latest news in this regard with the participation and attendance of specialists to talk about the issue. "Through the contracts that we sign with other stakeholders, we can broadcast an important message to the community in order to raise awareness about how essential is the role of persons with disabilities as active members in the working force," he noted. Sindi said the Kingdom is one of the first countries to sign the United Nations Persons with Disabilities Charter and "here we find that we are in an environment that helps us to be partners of success to perform the responsibilities on all of our shoulders and not just the concerned authorities. In addition, global statistics proved that employees with disabilities are reliable with good behavior, attendance, and productivity. They also stay in their jobs for a long time, and hiring them grants employee satisfaction about the work environment," he pointed out. Moreover, "we will also enable our people with disabilities to receive the education and job opportunities that will ensure their independence and integration as effective members of society. They will be provided with all the facilities and tools required to put them on the path to business success, in order for them to be productive members of the society and become valuable partners in the realization of the Saudi National Transformation Plan and the government's Vision 2030," Sindi remarked.
