JEDDAH — The General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection reported a total of 12 Saudi cities were over 40 degrees on Tuesday. A source from the General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection said that Ramadan this year has fallen in the summer. "The summer weather is very hot during the day. The nights are much cooler during the summer. Temperature degrees are expected to reach 42 to 45 degrees during the day. The temperatures in Makkah and Buraidah was 44 degrees on Tuesday," said the source. The source also said the temperatures in Madinah, Hafr Al-Batin and Riyadh reached 42 degrees. "The temperature in Dammam reached 46 degrees and in Wadi Al-Dawasir, Rafhaa and Sharourah it reached 41 degrees. In Al-Ula and Yanbu the temperature reached 43 degrees. The temperature in Al-Ahsa reached 45 degrees and in Jeddah it reached 38 degrees," said the source. The source also said the Eastern Province, Riyadh, Jouf, Qassim, Hail and Madinah will experience a windy and dusty weather. "The wind will blow the dust and may obstruct the vision of drivers and pedestrians on the streets. High areas such as Jazan, Asir, Baha, Najran and Makkah are expected to experience thunder and rain," said the source. Jeddah Health Affairs Children Health Consultant Dr. Nasraddin Al-Sharif said he advises people to avoid direct sunlight as much as possible to avoid becoming thirsty while fasting. "It is very important to drink a lot after breaking the fast to maintain the hydration of the body. The heat is scorching and the body sweats a lot losing a lot of water. People should try to stay in air conditioned places to avoid from sweating, especially field workers who are overly exposed to sunlight," said Al-Sharif.
