Barcelona has completed the sale of fullback Maxwell to Ligue 1 leader Paris St Germain for 4 million euros ($5.12 million), the La Liga champions said Thursday. “FC Barcelona wants to show its gratitude for the effort and willingness Maxwell has shown since he arrived at the club and for the contribution he made to the sporting successes achieved,” Barca said on their website. The 30-year-old Brazilian joined Barca from Inter Milan at the end of the 2008-09 season. He is the latest in a string of signings by ambitious Qatar-backed PSG, who spent around 85 million euros on players in the close season and last month hired Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti. Milan abandons Tevez talks AC Milan has abandoned talks with Manchester City over the possible transfer of Carlos Tevez following Pato's decision to stay in Italy, Ansa said Thursday. Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani was holding talks with City and Tevez's agent Kia Joorabchian in London when news filtered through that Pato had turned down a move to Paris Saint Germain. The decision to walk away from the Tevez negotiations was a direct result of Pato's stance, said Ansa. Earlier, Italian press reported that Galliani had gone to England to finalize the transfer of the 27-year-old Argentine rebel. Inter and PSG are also said to be interested in the former Manchester United star, with both allegedly having tabled offers.
