Published in The Saudi Gazette on 16 - 05 - 2016

The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) awarded 11 regional companies for their outstanding procurement and supply management best practice and contribution to enhancing the role of the profession in the Middle East. The 2016 winners of the CIPS Middle East Awards were announced recently at The Address Dubai Marina. The Supply Management Awards were celebrated after the 6th CIPS Middle East Annual Conference, which provided insights on the current procurement challenges in the region such as integration, alignment and risk-management.
Sam Achampong, General Manager (CIPS MENA), said: "The annual CIPS Supply management Awards ceremony celebrates one of our key mandates – to promote best practice in the procurement and supply profession. The Awards are a reflection of the efforts local companies are making to further develop this region in line with global best practice. The MENA region offers many opportunities for procurement professionals to demonstrate leadership and drive better value, collaboration and innovation".
ENOC was the only company to take home three awards: for best people development initiative, best supplier relationship management categories and were the overall winners.
Commenting on this occasion, Abdulsalam Al Hammadi, Director – Procurement & Contracts at ENOC, said: "At ENOC, we run an internal programme to identify and fill performance gaps, and employ and nurture young professionals from the region and the UAE. This unique initiative has helped us maintain qualified team members for years and added significant value to our business in all sectors."
The procurement team of the year award went to Abu Dhabi Airports Company. Abu Dhabi Education Council were recognized for achieving the CIPS Platinum Certification, thereby becoming the 10th organization globally (second in this region) to achieve this recognition, and the first Educational Establishment.
