of-the-art technology and legendary design are attributes that best describe the new Porsche 911 and 718 Boxster, which were launched by the Stuttgart-based car manufacturer this week in Abu Dhabi. Embodying the brand's ethos of producing standard-setting sports cars that offer everyday usability, both models demonstrated their performance qualities on the racetrack at Yas Marina Circuit, and around public roads of the emirate. During the launch event, Deesch Papke, Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Middle East and Africa FZE, said: "We are proud to showcase two benchmark models that usher in a new era of Porsche sports cars. The 911 has won more races than any other model, whilst seamlessly balancing exceptional utility. It embodies the sports car genes that have defined all Porsche models for over 50 years. The latest version is the most evolved to date." "Meanwhile, 20 years on from its first introduction, our new roadster also merges tradition with performance innovations. The 718 Boxster continues Porsche's tradition of four-cylinder flat engine models, defined by legendary race cars of the 1950s and 1960s which won numerous races, including the renowned Targa Florio and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Descending from the original 718 RSK race car, the model is now more powerful, lighter and fuel efficient." With both models steeped in motorsport history, the 911 and 718 Boxster share an advanced future. New performance improvements and enhanced features enable them to extend their lead and set standards within their respective segments. The new Porsche 911 Carrera and Targa models feature a completely new engine generation with bi-turbo charging, which raises the emotional driving pleasure and results in an increase of 20 hp across the range. In the base model 911 Carrera this means 370 hp at the rear of the vehicle, boosting it from zero to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, whilst the Carrera S now develops 420 hp and completes the zero to 100km/h sprint in just 3.9 seconds. — SG
