Okaz/Saudi Gazette TABUK — The Directorate of Education has called for all schools to allow Productive Families to serve and supply food in the schools' cafeteria starting next year. Tabuk Education Assistant Director Majed Al-Qiair said the directorate of education is working with several public directorates to best serve the students. "The directorate has worked with Tabuk Health Affairs Directorate to provide healthy food for the students. Both directorates agreed to contact the Directorate of Social Affairs to invite Productive Families to rent the cafeteria of the schools and sell homemade food," said Al-Qiair. He added schools are considered a second home to the students. "Students spend up to eight hours a day at school and they rely heavily on the food served at the cafeteria. The directorate cares about the health of the students as the health of an individual student can affect the health of an entire family and thus the society at large," said Al-Qiair. He also said several members of Productive Families can offer homemade meals to the students. "Why not benefit another part of society by offering the opportunity to Productive Families to become a part of the health campaign run by the Directorate of Education. That way, the students will benefit from healthy meals free of added harmful chemicals, preservatives and food colors," said Al-Qiair. He also said the schools will not only sell the food supplied by the Productive Families, but also have Productive Families run the schools' cafeteria. "Productive Families are welcome to rent the cafeteria of boys' and girls' schools of all levels in all governorates of Tabuk. Starting in the next academic year, September 2016, Productive Families are allowed to take over the school menus and food served," said Al-Qiair.
