JEDDAH — It is primary responsibility of Pakistan's authorities to arrange repatriation of stranded Pakistanis from Bangladeshi camps and settle them in Pakistan, said renowned intellectual, scholar and former diplomat Dr. Ali Al-Ghamdi during his address in a function organized by Pakistan Repatriation Council (PRC) on the occasion of 76th anniversary of Pakistan's resolution held on March 23, 1940 in Lahore. Al-Ghamdi said OIC, MWL and UNHCR should be approached to overcome financial difficulties in solving the issue. He said though Pakistan is facing several pressing issues it should not ignore the issue of stranded Pakistanis (SP) who are living inhumanly for the last 45 years in red cross camps at Bangladesh. He praised leadership of Quaid-e-Azam and said on March 23, 1940, thousands of Muslims and their leaders headed by Jinnah gathered at Lahore in which Bengal's Fazal-ul-Haque's resolution for creation of separate country for Indian Muslim was unanimously approved. They committed that nothing less than Pakistan will be accepted. Jinnah's great leadership made Pakistan a reality within very short period of seven years which itself was a miracle and Allah's gift to Muslims. He also praised role of Allama Iqbal and other leaders for the success of movement of separate state and said we always pray for its success, integrity and solidarity since it gives strength to Ummah. Al-Ghamdi said: "I studied in Karachi in late 70 which he considered best part of his life. He said it is honor for me to join PRC event on the anniversary of Pakistan's resolution day. Distinguish guests included Mohammad Ali Al-Ghamdi, Dr. Zubair Ahmed, Prof. Mohammad Akram, Syed Naseeruddin, Khaled Jawaid, Syed Wasi Imam, Owais Akram and Naushad Usman. Shamsuddin Altaf spoke in Arabic. He suggested that the government should establish a commission to organize repatriation and rehabilitation of stranded Pakistanis. Maqbool-ur-Abbassi urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to issue passports to Pakistanis stranded in Bangladesh. Mohammad Akram Agha praised leadership of Quaid-e-Azam. Tayyab Mosani also urged for the repatriation and rehabilitation of stranded Pakistanis. Ashfaque Badaoyuni asked community to support PRC's mission for repatriation of stranded Pakistanis. Convener Syed Ehsanul Haque thanked Dr. Ali Al-Ghamdi, speakers, journalist, poets and guests in participating the function. He said stranded Pakistanis in Bangladesh should be brought back to their home country. "We thank Prime minister Nawaz Sharif for the creation of special senate committee for solving issue of stranded Pakistanis. We want prompt action for the repatriation and rehabilitation of stranded Pakistanis," he added. Earlier the function started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Qari Abdul Majeed. Naat by Syed Mohsin Alavi, national song by Sher Afzal, and the event was conducted by Zamurrad Saifi.
