Saudi Gazette RIYADH — All online traffic services will be stopped for traffic violators who fail to report to the authorities concerned to face penalties, according to the General Department of Traffic. The department spokesman told Saudi Gazette that a violator will be sent three text messages after committing a violation. He will be given a deadline to contact the Traffic Penalties' Commission. If he fails to approach the commission within the stipulated period of time, all online traffic services for him will be halted. The spokesman said that the punitive measures will be taken on the basis of Article 73/6 of the Traffic Law. He noted that traffic violations under Article 74 of the Traffic Law include driving under the influence of an intoxicant, jumping red light, driving in opposite direction, speeding zigzag among other vehicles, exceeding 25 km than permitted speed per hour, overtaking in prohibited areas, and joy riding.
