A local firm here is suing the Al-Qassim Water Directorate for refusing to award it public projects worth SR118 million. The Madina Administrative Court will consider the matter in February this year. Fahd Al-Aboodi, chairman of the board of directors of the establishment, said that the directorate refused to award them contracts even though they offered the lowest bid. “We were surprised when we received a letter from the directorate accusing us of being negligent in implementing some projects. We were told this was the reason we were not given any contracts. But there are some negligent establishments which delayed some projects, yet the directorate awarded them new contracts.” “This is why the establishment filed a case against the directorate. We want the court to hold people accountable for squandering public money,” he added. Okaz/Saudi Gazette has a copy of the letter the directorate sent to the establishment. The letter states that the establishment was excluded because of poor performance and failure to complete some of the projects it had been awarded. Saleh Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saqabi, a lawyer, said: “Strong evidence should be submitted to prove that the establishment was negligent and failed to carry out the required projects, otherwise the exclusion will be viewed as a crime against country and society.” __
