Dar Al-Hekma University has organized a Business and Law week with the theme "Fostering Creativity 1.2". Workshops, lectures, networking opportunities, field trips and business simulations were held as part of the week, which started on Feb. 14. Professionals from different disciplines shared their experiences and knowledge with Dar Al-Hekma students, staff and faculty. During the opening ceremony, the university celebrated the achievements of the law team, which won for Dar Al-Hekma and Saudi Arabia five awards out of seven in the Pre-Moot Meddle East in Bahrain. "By using ‘Fostering Creativity' as a theme for the Business and Law week, we in Dar Al-Hekma University are reinforcing our commitment to integrate creativity in every aspect of the educational experience," said Dr. Suhair Hassan Al-Qurashi, president of the university. The idea of the week was conceived two years ago by Dr. Inass Ali, dean of the Hekma School of Business and Law. "The idea of the HSBL Week emerged in our pursuit to prepare our students with the knowledge, skills and experiences that will help them become competent and committed to their work, consistent in their success and relishing the challenges of the environment that they work in. The HSBL week is a platform where industry leaders, community figures and business professionals working in various fields interact with our students to share their experience and knowledge of the real world and to enlighten them about their potential career paths," said Dr. Ali. The opening of the week started with the ‘Painting with no brushes' challenge where students and faculty alike were encouraged to paint on canvases without using any brushes to get them out of their comfort zones in order to help foster their creativity. The week included 14 lectures and 17 workshops delivered by high profile professionals from companies like Unilever, OPCO and Saudi Arabian Airlines. "Participating in the Business and Law week has been one of the best experiences I've had so far. As a first time participant in this annual event, I have definitely underestimated the impact it may leave on me. I participated as a challenge to overcome my fear of being responsible of something big and to overcome my even bigger fear, which is working with other people I am not familiar with. And thanks to the amazing people I was lucky enough to work with, I can assure you that the person that I am today is better than the person that existed just a week before," said Danya Nabeel Daghistani, a student in Human Resource Management in Dar Al-Hekma.
