Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Saudi movie "Barakah meets Barakah" was shown during the recent Berlin Film Festival and was well received by the audience, the film director Mahmoud Sabbagh has said. Sabbagh, who wrote the script and directed the film, said the 84-minute movie features a love story in Saudi Arabia which nullifies and counters the misconceptions about love in the Kingdom. "A large audience, who were thirsty to watch something about Saudi cinema, attended the show," he added. Sabbagh said he asked the audience, who filled the theater before the film was shown, that there was a young movie industry in the Kingdom. "I hope that you would receive us among your families," he told the audience. Sabbagh has trained film stars Hisham Fakeih and Fatima Al-Banawi for four months in Jeddah before he started the camera rolling. He said the film also uncovers the tug between two generations in the Kingdom. The film is the first long feature movie to be written and directed by Sabbagh.
