The General Presidency of Youth Welfare (GPYW) budget for 2011-2012 has allocated money to eight sports clubs' projects. The projects will commence in three months and be completed in four years. The GPWY made the announcement in a statement in which it revealed it has a total of 88 sports facilities including football clubs, pitches, gyms, stadiums, sports federations and Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Sports Medicine Hospital. It is currently working on 14 new sports clubs which will be completed in four years. As for delays dogging three sports clubs, the GPWY says this is due to a problem in the completion of procedures and a change in location. However, It insists the projects will start in 15 days. According to its future plans, “the Prince Nasser Bin Abdul Aziz Sports City in Wadi Al-Dawasir will be completed in two months and the Najran Sports City stadium will be expanded to accommodate 20,000 spectators and will be completed in 990 days. The other sports cities in Kharj and Sekaka will be completed in 33 months.” Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah is also to be expanded and will be built in 24 months. However, the GPWY insists construction work will not disrupt matches being played at the stadium. There are 101 clubs not included in the GPWY budget but the General Presidency insists it will build headquarters for these over the next 4-5 years. According to the statement, it will also improve its current sports facilities, stadiums and build new soccer pitches, implement security camera system and install colored electronic signs. The GPYW is also set to build youth camps for recreational and sports activities in Al-Ahsa and Tabuk in the next three years. Finally, the GPWY says it has “implemented several projects following the King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh.” These include “Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz City in Qatif, Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz in Al-Mujamma, Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Bin Musa'ed in Arar and Prince Nassir Bin Abdul Aziz in Wadi Al-Dawasir.”
