The Ministry of Labor has formed a committee to streamline the recruitment process of domestic workers, Al-Madina Arabic daily quoted Minister of Labor Mufrij Al-Haqbani as saying. Al-Haqbani said the committee consists of representatives from the ministries of interior, foreign affairs and labor. "The process of recruitment needs to be organized. There are too many directorates involved in the process of recruitment. Recruitment was one of the issues discussed in the meeting held in the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry," said Al-Haqbani. He said the ministry has a new system in place where companies are required to submit a weekly report on the status of employees. "Companies and establishments are required to justify the sacking of Saudis," he said, adding that training is the biggest problem standing in the way of women's employment. "Some 250,000 Saudis enter the job market every year. The ministry cooperates with all directorates of employment such as Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, Human Resources Development Fund and the General Organization for Social Insurance to provide Saudis with the appropriate training programs and opportunities," said Al-Haqbani. He said that the ministry focuses on three main fields: Generating jobs, Saudization and funding of entrepreneurs. The minister said that 800 participants from 47 different cities and provinces took part in the distant employment program which benefited 279 employers. The Human Resources Development Fund has also funded distant employment centers to allow Saudis living in rural areas to find employment opportunities without being forced to move to cities. Al-Haqbani said the ministry is working on becoming fully electronic with only four percent of its services offline.
