More than 450 players will be in action at the Mega Doubles Tournament, being organized by Noble Badminton Club, this Friday and Saturday (Jan. 29 and 30) here. The matches will take place at the five courts of NBC indoor badminton stadium behind Novotel Khaldia, Dammam. A total of 300 games are scheduled and action will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue late into the night. Besides players of different nationalities residing in different regions of Saudi Arabia, players from Bahrain, Indonesia, Russia and Thailand are also taking part in the two-day event. The tourney has been approved by the Saudi Badminton Committee. The tournament has been divided into different categories: Men's, Junior & Sub-junior doubles and Singles for Saudi boys 12 and 14 years. There are 10 different levels in each category based on player grading. Champions and runner-ups in each level will be awarded trophies. All arrangements for the tournament are completed; a tournament committee consisting of 25 members is working day and night to ensure a smooth competition. Tournament Director Dr. Hassan Mohammed and club Chairman Khalid Saleh are providing directions & guidance to the committee. The entries for the matches have been completed. The organizers have arranged lunch, dinner and snacks for the players and spectators. Noble Badminton Club, Dammam, was established in 1995 and boasts 115 playing members. Over these years the club has functioned with a motive to promote and improve the standard of badminton in the Kingdom. The club has been conducting mega, singles, mini-doubles besides several exchange tournaments. The club also conducts coaching camps for kids every Friday and Saturday between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
