CC Sabathia gave up two earned runs and five hits over six innings for Milwaukee in a 7-3 victory over Colorado in the National League on Tuesday, a day after he was acquired in a trade with Cleveland. Sabathia (1-0), the reigning American League Cy Young pitching award winner, walked five, tying the season high he set back in April. The Brewers led 4-1 after five innings and Sabathia got in trouble in the sixth, loading the bases with no outs. Yorvit Torrealba doubled down the right-field line to drive in two runs, but Sabathia got out of the inning without giving up the lead. He was replaced by reliever David Riske in the seventh, and the Brewers' bullpen held on for the victory as Milwaukee added three runs in the seventh. Ryan Braun hit his 22nd homer in the first, a three-run drive off Rockies starter Mark Redman (2-4). Braves 9, Dodgers 3: At Los Angeles, Jair Jurrjens pitched six solid innings, batterymate Brian McCann homered twice and Yunel Escobar hit a three-run double to lead Atlanta over Los Angeles. One night after Hiroki Kuroda took a perfect game into the eighth inning against the Braves and beat them 3-0 with a one-hitter, Chad Billingsley (8-8) held Atlanta hitless until Kelly Johnson and Mark Kotsay opened the fifth with singles. He walked Gregor Blanco one out later, and Escobar grounded the next pitch over third base to give Atlanta a 3-0 lead. McCann started Atlanta's three-run sixth with a leadoff homer. Mark Teixeira and McCann homered back-to-back against rookie Cory Wade in the ninth for a 9-1 lead. It was the 17th homer of the season for both. Cardinals 2, Phillies 0: At Philadelphia, Joel Pineiro and three relievers combined on a six-hitter, and Rick Ankiel and Ryan Ludwick hit solo homers as St. Louis beat Philadelphia. Pineiro (3-4) allowed five hits and walked three in 6 1-3 innings for his first win since April 29. He was 0-2 with seven no-decisions in his previous nine starts. Cole Hamels (9-6) gave up three hits - including the home runs - in seven innings and struck out eight. Ankiel hit his 19th homer in the fifth and Ludwick hit his 18th in the sixth. Mets 7, Giants 0: At New York, Mike Pelfrey won his fifth straight start and Carlos Beltran drove in four runs for surging New York. Diamondbacks 2, Nationals 0: At Washington, Brandon Webb earned his major league-leading 13th win, pitching six scoreless innings for Arizona. Cubs 7, Reds 3: At Chicago, Ryan Dempster became the first Cubs pitcher in 31 years to start a season 10-0 at home and Mike Fontenot and Geovany Soto homered for Chicago. Dempster (10-3) is the first Cubs' pitcher to win his first 10 decisions at home since Rick Reuschel in 1977. He allowed two hits and a run in seven innings. Pirates 4, Astros 3: At Pittsburgh, Nate McLouth's two-run single in the eighth capped a three-run rally and Pittsburgh sent Houston to its seventh loss in eight games.
