Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman received at Al-Yamama Palace here on Wednesday the credentials of the ambassadors of a number of Islamic, Arab and friendly countries. Among those who presented their credentials to the King was Iraq's ambassador to Riyadh. On Jan. 1, Saudi Arabia reopened its embassy in Baghdad after restoring diplomatic ties which had been frozen since 1990 when the late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. The two countries first discussed reestablishing diplomatic ties a year ago when a Saudi delegation traveled to Baghdad in January 2015 to reopen the embassy. The other ambassadors who presented their credentials to King Salman on Wednesday included those of Kenya, Angola (non-resident), Chile (non-resident), Malaysia, Ecuador (non-resident), Somalia, Liberia, Peru, Romania, Canada, Greece, Tanzania, Egypt, Maldives, Vietnam, Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka, Republic of Korea, Cyprus, and Burundi. The King welcomed the ambassadors to the Kingdom, and asked them to convey his greetings to the leaders of their countries, stressing the Kingdom's pride in friendship and its desire for continued relations with their countries. The ambassadors conveyed to King Salman the greetings of their countries' leaders, expressing their thanks to him for receiving them and for the warm welcome and generous hospitality accorded to them. They stressed their keenness to strengthen relations between their countries and the Kingdom.
