JEDDAH — Ebtinaa voluntary organization, founded by a team of students from Dar Al-Hekma University to support start-ups projects, launched a new campaign on social networks to support Umm Abdullah. It is the first initiative undertaken by the group to support this self-made woman and raise public awareness about her. The volunteers invited people to attend the campaign at Red Sea Mall and meet Umm Abdullah, so that they can get to know her products, which varies from drinks to traditional Arabian desserts. Umm Abdullah is a 50-year-old Saudi woman who is diagnosed with diabetes. She started her business with selling tea on firewood for passers-by and drivers crossing her small kiosk. Her efforts began to bear fruits and she started making profits from the small kiosk, which encouraged her to diversify her products to increase her income. Through tech support from "Injaz Saudi" and under the direct supervision of businesswoman Ghada Ghazzawi, Ebtinaa team adopted Umm Abdullah's project to enter in "Ripples of Happiness" competition, which is held between universities from different countries. Ghazzawi, supervisor of Ebtinaa, expressed her happiness on the achievement of the student group and said: "What they have done as a team is nothing strange to Saudi Arabia, where people volunteer to do good without hesitation." Ghazzawi believes that the Kingdom is bursting with goodwill of the community which is capable of providing support at no cost. Ebtinaa launched the special campaign in collaboration with Red Sea Mall through offering a free space to Umm Abdullah in the mall for one day, making her accessible to the largest possible number of customers to promote her products. Mohammad Alawi, CEO of the Red Sea Markets which owns Red Sea Mall, said the mall pays great attention to charity, and we are pleased to support humanitarian initiatives that aim to assist citizens and to inspire the community to help others.
