Vijay and Qass Singh eagled the par-5 18th hole for a 13-under 59 and a two-stroke lead Saturday in the PNC Father/Son Challenge scramble event. Vijay made the eagle putt after Qass hit a 6-iron from 189 yards to 15 feet. "I always enjoy playing with my dad," Qass said. The Singhs also had 11 birdies at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. "Qass drove the ball beautifully," Vijay said. "When he catches the drive, it goes for a ride. He left me with a lot of nice second shots. He actually played well and made a lot of birdies on his own and took a lot of pressure off me. The second shot on the last hole tells it all." Davis and Dru Love, Lanny and Tucker Wadkins, and Steve and Sam Elkington were tied for second in the 36-hole tournament. Nick and Matthew Faldo, Fred and Taylor Funk, Larry and Drew Nelson, and Lee and Connor Janzen were another stroke back at 10-under. Defending champions Bernhard and Jason Langer were tied for ninth at 63. Jack and Gary Nicklaus were tied for 14th at 64. "I actually hit the ball pretty decent," Jack Nicklaus said. Dufner and Snedeker win title Americans Jason Dufner and Brandt Snedeker combined for an 11-under par 61 in Saturday's closing better-ball format to win the 27th annual Franklin Templeton Shootout by two strokes. The first-time pairing won the title at 30-under par 186 with the US duo of Harris English and Matt Kuchar, the 2013 winners, second on 188 and Americans Daniel Berger and Charley Hoffman third, another shot adrift. The three-day invitational event hosted by retired Australian star Greg Norman in Naples, Florida, matched 12 pairs of men's golfers in three different styles, starting with Thursday's scramble and Friday's modified alternate shot. Kuchar missed a four-foot birdie putt at 15 that would have grabbed a share of the lead, running it past on the right side. He also missed a 20-foot eagle putt at the par-5 16th to seize the lead, but his tap-in birdie matched him and English with Dufner and Snedeker at 28-under. Dufner, the 2013 PGA Championship winner, knocked in a five-foot birdie putt at 17 to reclaim the lead while Kuchar found the water at 18. Snedeker ended any doubt by sinking a birdie from the bunker at 18. Snedeker won his first victory since Pebble Beach last February while Dufner had not won since taking his only major title two years ago at Oak Hill. — Agencies
