Naweid Siddiqui and Nadeem Alam were nominated as honorary president and vice president respectively of the Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni Association (Western Region) here at the weekend. Siddiqui, who acted as vice president in the previous set-up, was elevated to be president for the remaining term as the post fell vacant upon the resignation of Nadeem A. Nadwi for personal reasons. In his resignation letter, Nadwi thanked all members of the alumni for the support extended to him during his tenure and said he would remain available for the cause of Jamia whenever required. "His best wishes for every Jamiaite are words that would keep the alumni moving," a press release issued by Naseem Ahmad, general secretary of the association, here said. "The alumni indeed gained from Nadwi's experience and would cherish the moments and events held under his tenure," the release said.

The decision was taken unanimously by the association's committee members and all the Jamia alumni present at the event. The new list of office-bearers of the association is: Ameed Al Waheedy (patron), Naweid Siddiqui (president), Nadeem Alam (vice president), Naseem Ahmad (general secretary), Afzal Khan (treasurer) and S. Athar H. Rizvi (advisor). For the ladies wing, Sadiqa Tarannum and Munawwar Nizam will continue to act as vice president and advisor respectively. Executive committee members (male) are: Syed Nizamuddin, Shamshad Ali Ansari, Dr. Intakhaab Alam, Zaman, Bhajat Sultan, Ahtesham Anjum, Khalid Khan (Makkah), Mahmood (Madinah) and Ansar Qadeer (Yanbu). Kauser Nadeem, Meher Naseem, Shehnaz and Rukhsana Anjum are executive committee members (ladies wing). Coordinators (male): Farzan ul Haque, Dilnawaz, Zaki, Sarfaraz, Zafar (Makkah), and Asif Zubair (Yanbu). Anam Tazeen and Aiman Anjum will function as coordinators (ladies wing), the press release concluded.
