Saudi Gazette MAKKAH — Mayor Osama Albar has signed two contracts worth more than SR25 million with two specialized national companies to operate and maintain a number of graveyards in the holy city. "The municipality is giving special attention to the development and upkeep of graveyards and the dead-washing facilities in Makkah and its suburbs," the mayor said after the contracts were signed. He said the municipality has recently established, expanded and fenced a number of cemeteries and also constructed a number of facilities where the dead bodies are washed and prepared for burial. The first three-year contract of SR23.9 million was aimed at operating, preparing and transporting the dead bodies to the graveyards of Al-Maalah, Al-Sharaie, Al-Adl, Shuhada Al-Haram (Martyrs of the Grand Mosque) and Bahra. The second contract worth SR2.3 million was to fence a number of graveyards in various areas in Makkah over a year. The mayor said the municipality is determined to provide the best of services to the people within the consistent policy of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
