A picnic ended on a tragic note for a family in Qaryat Al-Ulaya village when a two-year-old boy suffocated to death after his father left him locked in the car. The family had just returned home from a picnic. The father left the boy, who was fast asleep, locked inside the vehicle. The boy's mother realized his absence an hour later, but it was too late. After an extensive search, the family found him inside the car unconscious. They took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. “Children cannot withstand the heat, unlike adults. Being left inside a car under the searing heat is always fatal,” a doctor at the Dammam Central Hospital said. Red Crescent and Civil Defense have urged parents to take extra care during the summer holidays when schools are closed. __
