Eleven Asian workers were killed and 14 others injured in Al-Asha on Tuesday when the bus they were travelling in crashed with a truck, Eastern Province Red Crescent spokesman Fahd Al-Ghamdi said. Many of the workers who survived the accident sustained various injuries. All the injured and the dead were taken to King Fahd Hospital. Meanwhile, two men died and four others were injured, some of the critically, in a road accident in Buraidah. Qassim Traffic Director Nasser Al-Qiraini said unstable weather conditions caused several accidents in the region. Dentist assaulted inside clinic HAFR AL-BATIN — Two young men physically assaulted a dentist while he was on duty. Eastern Province Police spokesman Col. Ziyad Al-Ruqaiti said the police received reports of two men in their 20s walking into a dentist's clinic and assaulting him after a quarrel. The dentist was severely injured and was taken to hospital. The assailants were arrested and their case was forwarded to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution. Man, child shot in family feud HOFOUF — A man and a child got shot after a fight had broken out between two members of a family here on Tuesday. Eastern Province Police spokesman Col. Ziyad Al-Ruqaiti said the two men got into a fight and the eight-year-old child was standing nearby. The fight escalated and one of the men pulled out his gun and shot the man and the boy. Both victims were taken to hospital and are slowly recovering. The police are still searching for the shooter. Two boys trapped in elevator rescued TURAIF — Two boys were rescued after they were trapped in an elevator. Northern Border Civil Defense spokesman Lt. Gen. Fahd Al-Enizi said the Civil Defense received reports of two boys trapped in an elevator of a residential building in Al-Sultanah District. The rescuers managed to haul them out safely. The Civil Defense warned the public that being trapped in an elevator is a dangerous situation and people must contact the Civil Defense immediately rather than trying to save the victims themselves. It said such situations need a team of experts to tackle and amateurish action may jeopardize the lives of the victims. 274 kg hashish seized from boat JEDDAH — Border Guards foiled a smuggling attempt and seized 274 kg hashish from a boat approaching the coast of Jeddah. Border Guard spokesman Col. Saher Al-Harbi said the guards spotted the boat nearing the coast and intercepted it. Upon seeing the guards, the men on the boat began dumping bags into the sea. The guards seized the boat and inspected it to find hashish. Four Yemeni men on the boat were arrested for attempting to smuggling narcotics into the Kingdom, Al-Harbi said.
