Saudi Gazette MANILA — The Mahindra Enforcers found luck on what many believe to be an unlucky day, Friday the 13th, finally winning their first game of the new 2015-2016 PBA season with a 103-93 thrashing of the NLEX Road Warriors in the Philippine Cup. The victory snapped Mahindra's three-game losing streak as the Enforcers move one notch higher from the bottom, leaving the Meralco Bolts (0-3) as the only winless team in the 12-team tournament. NLEX suffered a second straight loss to fall to a 2-2 win-loss record, tying the Star Hotshots at sixth to seventh place in the standings. Five Enforcers scored in double-digits led by Niño Canaleta and Aldrech Ramos who dished out their best game against their former team, scoring 14 points apiece. Kyle Pascual also scored 14 while LA Revilla and Mark Yee finished with 13 and 11 markers, respectively. Playing coach Manny Pacquiao was not there to savor the victory as he made an overseas trip. Revilla once again saved his best for last as he caught fire late in the game, banging nine points including a three-pointer that gave Mahindra a 17-point cushion, 77-60, at the start of the fourth quarter. It was a reprise of his last performance in Mahindra's last game against Alaska where he nearly singlehandedly rallied his team to threaten the Aces in the endgame before falling short. The Enforcers led by as many as 21 points, 91-70, pushing NLEX into a hole too deep to climb. The Road Warriors did try to comeback, going on a 23-12 run, in the final period, but it was not enough to deny Mahindra the victory. The NLEX defeat rendered meaningless Asi Taulava's monster game. The oldest PBA player and member of the last Gilas squad finished with 31 points and nine rebounds in 32 minutes of action. Sean Anthony was the only other Road Warrior in double digits with 19 points. GlobalPort 113, Rain or Shine 111 Stanley Pringle starred for GlobalPort, scoring a team-high 27 points, including the game winner with 0.3 second remaining, to lift the Batang Pier to a rousing 113-111 victory over the erstwhile unbeaten Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. The win allowed GlobalPort to forge a four-way tie for the top spot, joining Rain or Shine, Alaska, and San Miguel, all with a 3-1 record. Pringle also had eight rebounds, and five assists in 38 minutes on the court. Four other Batang Pier had double-digit scores with Terrence Romeo finishing with 25 points, Keith Jensen with 21 and Joseph Yeo with 11. Beau Belga led Rain or Shine with 21 points. Jeff Chan added 17, Jericho Cruz chipped in with 15 while Raymond Almazan and Jewel Ponferada contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.
