Saudi Gazette The Minister of Education, Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah Bin Muhammad, announced a new strategy to improve the physical education sessions in the Kingdom's schools. He said that he is not satisfied with the current situation of the physical education in most schools. The Ministry is planning to finance better sports programs by building special gyms and fields. They plan to provide schools with a wide range of sports equipments to train students under the guidance of highly qualified physical education teachers. Prince Faisal also revealed that the ministry plans to build 1,000 new schools across the nation, which will be exemplary in their design and education systems. Some schools will be generously funded to provide horse riding lessons to students. He is worried about the health of the younger generation as diabetes and obesity among children in the Kingdom has increased tremendously as a result of their bad eating habits and lack of physical exercise. The future sports projects in schools will play an important role in ensuring optimal health for all students. “The Ministry will implement sports projects in all schools and will encourage physical education for boys and girls, to raise the level of sports to a degree that will make the nation proud,” the minister concluded. __
