Since its founding, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has never been isolated from its Arab neighbors. Year after year and meeting after meeting, it has opened its horizon far and wide to strengthen its relations with other Arab countries. The GCC is an Arab political and economic powerhouse that supports the Arab positions and Arab communities. It helps the Arab people overcome challenges and crises whether domestic, regional or global in scope. From this perspective, its meetings are awaited not only by people from GCC countries but also from other parts of the Arab world and beyond. Arabs eagerly await the outcome of the two-day GCC Summit which opened in Riyadh on Monday because it would have an impact on Arab countries and their people. Many important issues were scheduled to be discussed in the meeting, including the Iranian issue, the GCC partnership with Morocco and Jordan and the plan to establish a unified Gulf currency. GCC meetings are always aimed at resolving political and economic issues in the best interests of Arabs in the face of the many challenges confronting them. The Gulf countries have proven in different instances that they firmly support the Arab causes and struggles in Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Iraq and other Arab countries. The current meeting comes at a time of the Arab Spring which has brought sweeping changes in many Arab countries. The GCC Summit discussed solutions to the problems and challenges facing the Arab world and ways to bring peace and prosperity to the Arab Ummah. __
