KAMC announces deal with visual analytics leader Qlik
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 31 - 10 - 2015

King Abdullah Medical City (KAMC) announced its collaboration with Qlik, a leader in visual analytics. The Medical City was established due to King Abdullah's vision of wanting Makkah to be a hub for medical services that rivaled the best in the world.
It is comprised of three hospitals with a total patient capacity of 1,550. The facility boasts centers dedicated to the core aspects of healthcare which include Cardiovascular, Neurosicences, Oncology as well as specialized surgery centers. KAMC prides itself on being a nonprofit organization that delivers outstanding medical servicies to the people of Saudi Arabia.
Due to its vast scale, the city requries cutting edge technology in order to enhance its business making capabilities. Some of the challenges that are faced include the spread of data across various sources such as HIS, ERP, OVAR and patient satisfaction web portals. A majority of this data needs to be redesigned in order to be accesible to employees.
In order to address these issues, KAMC made a strategic decision to implement the Qlik visual analytics platform to function at a higher level than before.
Kerry Koutsikos, regional director, Middle East, Africa & Turkey, stated: "The healthcare industry requries business intelligence that is simple and limitless. Our goal is to provide solutions as such that allow businesses to explore data and find insights that might otherwise go overlooked. Implementing our solutions in KAMCs' network enabes them to access information quickly and more effective."
The benefits gained by doing so are tremendous. KAMC is able to progress on the areas that need improvement within their patient workflow process. They have the ability to monitor the performance of their employees and ensure they are fufilling their duties to the highest of standards, ultimately benefitting patients and customers, leading to higher customer satisfaction, which in turn drives the facility to operate in a more effecient manner.
Qlik's solutions also enable KAMC to analyze information in seconds as oposed to using a system that is outdated and functions at a much slower rate. The vital information that KAMC needs in order to operate is also centralized and avilable on dashboards, thus eliminating the number of errors that can occur while accessing it.
Qlik's products and services have changed the manner in which KAMC operates in a positive way. KAMC is able to generate reports by utilizing a user friendly interface with screens that interact all in one location. This proves especially useful in instances where prompt decision making is required such as disasters and critical situations.
Mohsen Ba-Abdullah, ICT executive director at KMAC, said: "We have implemented a standard in which any new third party software that allows us to access and view data must be compatible with the Qlik dashboard. Moving forward, Qlik will continue to act as an indispensable BI system for KAMC and we plan to integrate it in all other KAMC systems. Finally, we will have all information available in a centralized BI system."
The partnership is set to vastly imrpove business operations at KAMC, allowing the medical facitlity to pay close attention to what matters most which is the care and well being of their patients.
Qlik is a leader in visual analytics. Its portfolio of products meets customers' growing needs from reporting and self-service visual analysis to guided, embedded and custom analytics. Approximately 36,000 customers rely on Qlik solutions to gain meaning out of information from varied sources, exploring the hidden relationships within data that lead to insights that ignite good ideas. Headquartered in Radnor, Pennsylvania, Qlik has offices around the world with more than 1700 partners covering more than 100 countries.
