Saudi and foreign workers in Jubail are the highest paid in the Kingdom, primarily due to the large presence of petrochemical companies and basic industries there, according to a survey conducted by an international management consulting firm. Hay Group, a global management consulting firm, made a presentation recently on the Kingdom's salary scale before members of the Saudi Aramco-based Arabian Society for Human Resource Management (ASHRM). ASHRM is a society dedicated to the management and development of human resources. Hay Group said the salary of workers in Jubail is 23 percent higher than other places in the Kingdom. Jeddah ranked second, followed by Dammam and Riyadh. The study is based on a survey of 264 organizations across various industrial sectors operating in the country. The oil, gas, high technology, telecommunications and chemical sectors are the leading payers. According to the survey, Western executives and professional workers continue to get the highest salary packages, followed by Saudis. Next in line are Arab expatriates, followed by Eastern and Asian guest workers. Allowances of workers have also been adjusted to the market needs, thus resulting in a bigger hike in the basic salary. On average, 94 percent of an employee's package is received in fixed payments, while other companies link their employees' housing allowance to basic salary, said the survey. __
