PNU forum calls for talent hunt mechanism
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 22 - 10 - 2015

The first international conference and exhibition for training and development, which concluded at Princess Noura Bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) in Riyadh on Wednesday, recommended the setting up of administrations for talent hunt in all institutions and establishments in the Kingdom.
The conference also recommended laying down the bases and criteria by taking advantage of international experience in the field. This will be through building talents management strategies that include ideal attraction, keeping, training and development.
The conference called for the establishment of a women's society for training and development under the auspices of PNU.
The recommendations were issued on Wednesday night at the conclusion of three days of scientific seminars, workshops and group discussions organized by PNU.
The conference stressed the necessity for talent management strategies to be in tandem with the comprehensive strategy of the institution or organization.
The scientific papers presented in the conference stressed the positive role of talents in improving performance and increasing production. Therefore, talents should be a basic requirement for strategic jobs in the institution.
The conference called for developing the mechanisms for attracting talents in the educational institutions. They should include standards, knowledge, experience, skills and intelligence so as to ensure attracting people with distinctive talents for jobs in universities.
The conference called for establishing an electronic platform for talent management including appointment and development. This is due to the necessity to keep talented people in the institutions. Therefore, there should be incentives including promotions and conventional incentives. To achieve transparency in performance evaluation, the conference recommended creating evaluation methods in the institutions and organizations.
In the field of training, the conference called for boosting the evaluation of the effect of training in developing institutional performance by creating modern criteria comprising talent, creativity and innovation in gaining knowledge, skills, experience and problem solving. The conference called for holding the conference periodically under supervision of PNU with participation of all the universities in the Kingdom.
The conferees recommended changing the name of the Deanship for Development in Saudi universities to the Deanship for Developing Talents.
The three-day event drew 5,348 participants on the first two days.
