"Volunteerism is a noble duty towards serving humanity," said Indian Consul General B.S. Mubarak. He made this statement at a meeting at the Consulate Hall while paying homage to Niyazul Haq, who sacrificed his life in serving the pilgrims in Mina during Haj. Niyazul Haque Mansoori "Though in India, volunteerism is not that widespread, here away from home we have a good number of expatriates of the Indian community who are very enthusiastic to serve Haj pilgrims from all over the world at the holy site(s). Volunteers from different organizations including India Fraternity Forum, KMCC etc. are there to guide and help the pilgrims throughout the Haj season and the Saudi authorities are full praise for the volunteers' selfless efforts, particularly at the stampede location in Mina." Mubarak said that, in a way, the sacrifice of the volunteer is an inspiration to all of us and our children. He expressed his deep sorrow on the death of Niyazul Haq and conveyed his condolences and grief to his family. Mubarak also said that the Consulate will set up an award for the best Haj Service volunteer in memory of Niyazul Haq. Anwarul Haq the younger brother of Niyazul Haq received the memento presented (for Niyazul Haq) by the Consul General. Dr. Abdul Wahab Noorwali, former secretary general of World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), Ashraf Morayur (ISF president), Aijaz Khan (President, India Forum), Zakariya (exec. member Indian Pilgrims Welfare Forum), also attended the condolence meeting. Earlier, the meeting began with the recitation of verses from the Noble Qur'an by Muneer Omar and Abdussamad Omari welcomed the audience. Shamsuddin presided over the function and Mohammed Ali conveyed the vote of thanks.
