SOUTH Indian superstar Mohanlal is starring in the title role of a Japanese film on the legendary Indian freedom fighter Nair San (1905-1990). Chinese martial arts expert Jackie Chan has also signed up for the film to be directed by multiple-award-winning Indian director Albert. The film ‘Nair San' is about a revered icon in the annals of Japanese history and economy. San was awarded the highest Japanese order of merit, ‘The Order of the Sacred Treasure', the most coveted honor of accomplishment for any Japanese citizen, for his largely unheralded war against the British in Asia. For Mohanlal, the opportunity is a dream come true. Mohanlal grew up hearing from his father about the daring exploits of San, who used to stay in Poojapura, where Mhhanlal hails from in Thiruvananthapuram, capital of the south Indian state of Kerala. San's real name was Ayyapan Pillai Madhavan Nair. he took up the fight the British right from his adolescence to his middle age, irrespective of where he lived or what he pursued as a career. The SR200 million film is a 100 per cent Japanese film to be shot exclusively in Japan, Inner Mongolia and a very small portion in India. It is being produced by Morpheus Media Ventures Private Ltd, a production film in Mumbai. Vaidy S. has agreed to be the director of photography while A. R. Rahman is expected to compose the music. Jackie Chan will play part of Nair San in a cameo. Shooting starts in the first week of September. __
